Dr Richard Yuan-Tud Chen is an Endocrinologist specialising in Diabetes and Thyroid disorders, with a special interest in Male Hypogonadism and the Endocrinology of Aging, particularly in the area of Andropause in men.
Dr Chen graduated with the degrees of MBBS from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1991. Thereafter, he attained Membership to The Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom) in 1999 and qualified as a Specialist Physician in 2004, with dual accreditation in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine. He was elected to the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh as well as the Fellowship of Academy of Medicine, Singapore, in 2009. Dr Chen was appointed Chief of Endocrinology at Changi General Hospital (CGH), Singapore, from 2008-2014. Dr Chen was elected President of the Endocrine & Metabolic Society of Singapore (EMSS) from 2010-2012, and he is well-known to the endocrine fraternity in several countries in South-East Asia, particularly Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Brunei and Myanmar.
Apart from clinical work, Dr Chen actively promotes medical education, receiving the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence for 2007/2008. Between 2010-2012, Dr Chen was appointed Adjunct Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS. Since 2007, Dr Chen has been key in organizing the Course in Advanced Endocrinology jointly with the EMSS and The Mayo Clinic of USA, an international bi-annual meeting. Dr Chen has also served as a member of the Specialist Training Committee for Endocrinology in the Ministry of Health since 2009.
Dr Chen has been invited to speak at numerous scientific meetings on Andropause and Diabetes, and has authored and co-authored more than 20 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
