Dr. Mabel Wong obtained her medical degree from the National University of Singapore and was awarded the Dean’s list during her undergraduate studies. She underwent medical oncology training at the National Cancer Centre, Singapore. She was subsequently awarded the Healthcare Manpower Development Program (HMDP) Award in 2011, where she completed her fellowship at The Royal Marsden (United Kingdom), sub-specializing in experimental therapeutics and breast oncology.
She was a Consultant in the Division of Medical Oncology at National Cancer Centre Singapore, as well as Visiting Consultant at the Breast Service in Changi General Hospital, where she spearheaded the multidisciplinary breast tumour boards.
She is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore and a Member of Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. Her research interests include early phase clinical trials in breast and gynaecology oncology and neo-adjuvant therapy in breast cancer. She was also involved in supportive care in cancer. She was awarded the Ministry of Health Healthcare Quality Innovation and Improvement Grant to improve management of chemotherapy-induced febrile neutropenia patients in government restructured hospitals.
She is committed to teaching and was part of the Core Faculty for Senior Residency Program (Medical Oncology), a clinical lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Singapore and an adjunct assistant professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School.
She has written and published in many peer review journals.
Her sub-specialty interests are in cancer chemotherapy in breast, gynaecology-oncology, and gastro-intestinal cancers.
