Ms. Vernetta Wong is a registered Physiotherapist under the Allied Health Professions Council in Singapore. She has 10 years of clinical experience and specialised in musculoskeletal conditions for the past 7 years. She started practicing since 2006, after graduating from Nanyang Polytechnic with a Diploma in Physiotherapy. She then later obtained an academic excellence while pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science (Physiotherapy) in 2008. Her other achievements includes a prestigious HMDP scholarship offered by NHG to pursue her Masters in Physiotherapy (Musculoskeletal) from University of Queensland in 2012, where she gained her clinical experience in Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, as well as The Prince Charles Hospital.

Vernetta believed that constant upgrading of her knowledge and skills is the only way to ensure that good quality care is being delivered to her patients. As such, this belief has pushed her to attain more certifications in other areas, such as Vestibular Rehabilitation (2007), DMA Clinical Pilates (2010), Visceral Manipulation: Abdomen (2013) and Craniosacral Therapy 1 (2014) (The Barral Institute) and Craniomandibular Dysfunction (Craniofascial Therapy Academy)(2014).

Vernetta has worked with patients of different musculoskeletal conditions when she was a Senior Physiotherapist in Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) outpatient clinic. The conditions ranged from, but are not limited to surgical conditions such as discectomy, lumbar fusion, total knee/ hip replacement, rotator cuff repair and etc. to non-surgical conditions such as frozen shoulder, shoulder impingement, chronic low back pain or neck pain, whiplash and headache or dizziness relating to the neck. She also has experience managing subgroups of patients with conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord injury and vertigo related to vestibular dysfunction.

Besides her role as a clinician, she had also provided mentorship to junior Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy students, conducted workshops on trauma and dizziness and manual therapy for the neck in the management of neck pain, and also public forums on degenerative spine disease and Physiotherapy management in systemic Lupus erythematosus for the Lupus Association in Singapore.

In addition to her current practice, she is also a certified lymphoedema therapist under the Dr Vodder School since 2009 where she had experiences managing swelling in legs or arms related to poor function in lymphatic system. She has co-led the development of Physiotherapy and lymphoedema services in the TTSH Breast Clinic since 2010, where she managed breast cancer patients. Her scope of work in this area includes management of shoulder pain and irreversible arm swelling, also known as lymphoedema, which usually arise after mastectomy and excision of the lymph nodes.

Her other subspecialty includes management of patients with urinary incontinence arising from post pregnancy in women and post robotic-assisted laparascopic radical prostatectomy (RALRP) in men.

Her patient and thorough explanations will help you to better understand your condition and to regain confidence in management of your pain and impairment as her greatest joy being a Physiotherapist is to see her patient smile again.
