Dr Patrick Goh was the recipient of PSC local merit bursary award, earning his MBBS degree from the National University of Singapore in 1984. He then went on to further studies in sports medicine, obtaining a Masters in Sports Science (Sports Medicine) from the United States Sports Academy in 1988 where he graduated as its top student.

He worked with the rehabilitation medicine department of Singapore General Hospital , beofre joining the Singapore Sports Council’s (SSC) Sports Medicine and Research Centre, where he became Deputy Director (Sports Medicine). As physician to many of Singapore’s top sporting talent. He was also chief medical officer for Team Singapore for the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games, along with numerous regional and Commonwealth Games.

In the mid-nineties, Dr Goh introduced the use of musculokeletal ultrasound as a bedside tool for evaluation and imaging-guided treatments in his daily practice. in 1999, he researched and pioneered in Singapore, the use of ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal ESWT (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy).

Since leaving for private practice in 2005, he has become the first sports physician in Singapore to use Platelet-Rich  Plasma (PRP) for the treatment of sports and musculoskeletal injuries. His clinical work in this area has received international attention, resulting in invitations to speak in several countries around the world, including Switzerland, Romania, Korea and the USA.

In addition to his clinical practice, he is also co-chairman of the Sports Medicine Subspeciality Training Committee under the Ministry of Health, and was the examiner for the M (Med) Sports Medicine Advanced Speciality Training Examination in 2010. He is currently Chairman of Anti-Doping Singapore, and represents Singapore on the board of the South-East Asian Regional Anti-Doping Organisation (SEARADO). He has also a member of the Institutional Review Board of the Defense Medical and Environmental Research Institute (DMERI), and the Sports Medicine and Sports Science sub-committee of the Olympic Pathway-Programme.
